This has been an incredible experience and we cannot wait to start planning for 2012." Oregon Rush has been granted a WPSL franchise and will become the newest member of the WPSL Northwest Division in Summer 2011. Head Coach John O'Sullivan has built a roster with current Rush players, college playing alums, and some top collegiate and senior women's players from around Oregon. Rush will play against teams from Portland and Spokane, in the NW Division, with their opening fixture scheduled for May 27 against the Portland Rain. All Rush home games will be played at Summit High School stadium.
"Oregon Rush is very honored and excited to become part of the largest women's league in the United States," stated O'Sullivan. "The WPSL allows us to put a top level women's program in our club, and gives our top youth girls players something to aspire to, great players to train with, and will bring elite level women's soccer to Bend. This is a sports town, and soccer is the top game in town. We cannot wait to get started!"
Rush has already received commitments from former players McKenzie Ring (St Mary's), Bri Wilson (Idaho), Emily Miller (USC), and Amelia Salazar (St Mary's), as well as current members of the 93 Nike Girls and class of 2012 Maryn Beutler (University of Oregon), Kristen Parr (University of Oregon), Haley Estopare (University of Arizona), Allie Cummins (University of Oregon), and Gabby Vazquez (UNLV).
"This team is going to be a great mix of youth and experience, and we are excited to see how we match up against the rest of the league," said O'Sullivan.
